ADD TO THIS FROM DOC SpeciesFrom a young age many of us have a keen interest in animals and we learn about different species of animals by going to the zoo and having family pets. We all think we know what makes a species, right? They are just a way of separating different types of animals. Well, it is a little more complex than that. When you dig below the surface you will find that it can be really complicated to categorise different taxa into species groupings, especially when looking at taxa that seem to have only slight differences between them. This is where species concepts become useful.
